Less than a day before, I packed my bag,
for the last time at home
eat breakfast
brush teeth
wash face
bathe
go toilet
talk to my mother
before joining the hundreds of young men waiting at Pasir Ris to take the ferry to Pulau Tekong. They would find it hard to part their parents, friends, relatives or girlfriends. At Tekong life would be totally different, obey the superiors, follow the rules and defintely no entertainment like computers or tv for you to use.
Today Tuesday, one of my poly best friend Kai, boarded the ferry to Tekong. I can still remember the wonderful times spent and memories we had together. Life in poly, shopping outside and most memorable going Thailand for holiday last year after our internship.
Though I was not able to send him off, as I wanted to, I hope he could take care of himself and be able to adapt the life there.
Daniel just sent me a pic of himself. He had shaved his hair, and wore black plastic frame specs. He looked like Sean when bald. He would also be enlisting tomorrow at 10am.

Last time in TP : Finally the long awaited Graduation Ceremony.
Today 16 August 2004 marks the end chapter of my Polytechnic life and few more days another chapter of my life National Service. Reached the Convention Center at around 9++ am. Went to register and return my matric card no more 0101799E, now CHAO RECRUIT LOL. Everyone were either formally dressed or for those already in the army wearing no4. Along the way mingled with old friends congratulating each other.
By 9.30 all graduates and parents were seated awaiting the distinguished guests of honour. While waiting for the guests, the projector was displaying videos of olden Singapore in the 40s 50s. At 10am sharp the guest of honour arrived and everyone rised for the national anthem. The Director of IT school gave a long speech before, Mr Edward Fun(?) CEO of Apple Computers one of the distinguished guests gave his inspiring speech. He too was an ex TPian, graduated in 1995. During his studies he was posted to GuangZhou, China for internship. The 6 months there trained and spur him to greater heights. After a few years of working, he was headhunted by Dell to be responsible of the computer systems of the Singapore Government.
Among the guest of honour was a Brigadier General. A guest from Microsoft, was called upon to hand our Diplomas to us. At around 11am, I was finally at backstage awaiting the moment of my life. Along the way my ex-lecturers congratulated me. After all diplomas were given away, a dance performance was performed. After the dance, Mr Edward was once again called upon to present graduates the Diploma with Merit. Those awarded with this diploma are those with very good grades. Was surprised to see Susee my year 1 mate to be awarded.
After the ceremony, there was alot of phototaking sessions for the last time. It was rather rushed for those who were given half day off and had to return to camp later. (Pictures would be posted later). I was really disappointed, not being able to see some of my classmates and share our joys. Though Guo Jiu did not registered for the event, he even dressed formally to take photos with us one last time. Later Pei Long drove Kai and I to Bugis and eat. We eat at Billy Bombers, decor was nice, but the food i ordered was nothing special. However their burgers are GIGANTIC. They ordered 2 burgers while I ordered a chicken set. My order was just fried crispy chicken and large size french fries. Ordered a drink called "Sophia" basically some lemonade and mixed fruit. Well the taste was not bad. After the meal I left for home, while Kai followed Pei Long to his shop to buy black tape and alarm clock.

Last Soccer Session SOBZ sobz sObZ SoBz
Was going to play soccer at Macpherson, when my mum said she was not feeling well and told me to buy breakfast. She said her stomache and vomiited last night. I went to my hawker centre to buy breakfast and lunch for them. Met Kai at Paya Lebar to go Macpherson together, when Sandi called to say an altar is being setup at the basketball court, so play at a nearby street soccer court. Reached there and saw Sandi, Jia Ming, Wei Qiang, Chin Sin, Jun Liang and Edwin. Didn't want to wait so decided to play at another basketball court near Kallang. Edwin drove his bike while we took bus. Reached there and formed teams. Wei QIang, Jun Liang, me and 2 other pros were in the same group. Our team had been wining since we started LOL. Soon later Zhi Kang and Mingda came. Pratically played last man the whole time. Boy the bottled drinks being sold is KILLING. $2.50 for a big bottle of 100 plus and i stared the shopowner for awhile, as I might heard wrongly. Played till 3.30pm where we left for home. Me Jia Ming and Kai went Kallang Mrt to take bus 31. Went Jia Ming house to borrow his goggles after that went home. Soon the skies turned dark and started to rain heavily.
Tomorrow is my Graduation Day. Hopefully I could take photos with my brothers who went through thick and thin for the last time. Then wednesday I would be going Tekong.

Shit nearly lost my IC
Chatted with Sandi over msn and he showed me "Happy Tree Friends". The videos are so damn gross though they are cartoon. Later he decided to army market to see shoes and later Orchard. So I met him and Jia Ming at my house bus-stop. Reached army market, and they went to see "authentic" nike shoes. Every stall would have some album showing the shoes, so you could browsed your favourite pair. Spent like 30mins there, browsing and Jia Ming finally got a pair of nike for $60. The design looks quite nice.
Later went to the food centre to meet Wei Qiang and they had "Ah Balling". Something like tang yuan. After the meal we left for Orchard. Reached orchard at around 6.30, decided to "Stadium" at Takashimaya to look at the goggles. As Jia Ming did not have to use the goggles, he said he could lent me, so we browsed around and Jun Liang and his girlfriend and Chin SIn came to meet us. It had been ages since i last saw Jun Liang, few months i guessed. Then we went to the waterfall at taka to meet Jin Fang and Zhi Kang. Chatted our way to Far East. Slacked a while, and Jin Fang bought a bag. Decided to catch a movie and have dinner so went to Cineleisure to wait for Daphne. Had yoshinoya for dinner, then the girls left halfway to do a "hair extension"
At the end, we went to play aracde. Been a long time since i last stepped into arcade. Reached there heard a group of people shouting, machiam watching soccer match : they were playing table soccer. Stayed there for around an hour, when Timothy called to meet him 11.30 at FORUM. 11.20 left the guys and headed for FORUM. At the escalator saw Sandi and another girl, Prisc bah. Marcus called saying he would reach in 5-10mins times. I was sitting outside borders waiting for him, looking at the giant screen at Shaw House. Soon he arrived and still waiting for Timothy. Went to the starbucks near Devils Bar. Marcus was complaing about the abuse treatment inside Commandos to Timothy. Chatted for awhile, when they had to clear the area. So decided to go classic to play pool, it was already 1.30. On the lift up to Classic, they were toking about 11B and shit I COULDN'T FIND MY IC. DAMN left few days and had to make police report. I guessed I might had left it at classic, true enough it was inside a stack on ICs and 11Bs LOL .Played for an hour and watched the Boro VS Newcastle game and went home.

5 Days to end of Civilian life
Today woke up at around 10am promised to accompany my Mum to Maxwell to have breakfast and later to my grandma's house to settle my uncle's computer. As i couldn't remove my cdrom, i decided not to go my grandma's house. We reached there, my mum went to order porridge while I had a tummy ache so went toilet. First time saw a toilet with turnstiles entry and exits. Went to get soya bean milk. I didn't knew it was BOILING HOT and i was so stupid as to find a tray to carry. My fingers were very badly burnt carrying 2 cups of boiling soya bean milk. On the way to our seats, i stopped at other people's table wanted to cry. Boy i was too stupid.
After our meal, my mum browsed around, went to the wet market and saw some fishmongers selling live frogs and tortises. Bought some vegetables, before my cousin called to pick us up. Was supposed to accompany Kai to make sunglasses, but last minute my cousin called, wanting to fetch us. Sorry brother, guess you also have a longer time with your NEW GIRLFRIEND LOL. My cousin is a Lieutnant at Clementi Camp and decided to take half day leave to have a chat with me. He fetched us, and drove us to geylang for tau huey. We ordered, soya bean milk, tau huey, xiao long baos, yew char kway and taiwan mian xian. AFter our meal he drove us back and went upstairs for awhile.
He shared with me, the times he was in BMT, OCS and now being in-charged of reservists. He told me to have a positive mindset, don't argue with superior, follow orders and my life would pass very fast. Later he left for my grandma's place.
Today premiere's 2 new shows on channel 5. One "performing as" and another "My big fat obnoxious fiance". "Performing As" is a show about some people impersonating their idols's, singing and dancing. "My big fat obnoxious fiance" is damn funny. The story is about a actor is asked to be the fiance of another girl. The girl doesn't know her finace is an actor. The objective is for the girl to impress her friends and relatives to approve and attend teir wedding in 2weeks time. If all appeared for the wedding ceremony, they are awarded USD 500,000. 250,000 to her parents and another 250,000 to herself. Her finace behaviour and manners is downnright crude LOL watch it for yourself.

Happy Early Birthday Edwin
Met Daniel and Steven at Lavender MRT to go army market to get our army stuffs. We went to had lunch at the hawker centre. Though it was a Sunday and supposedly to be closed, it was crowded. We had no idea to buy what and from which stall. So we just tried our luck at one stall. The customers there were issued baskets to place their items they need. We spent nearly 30mins looking for the stuff. In the end, everyone bought snake powder, ziplock bags, black tapes 2 sets of PT kit, 1 with T-shirt and another with siglet. After we bought the army stuffs, we went the nearby provision shop to buy toiletries. Later we left for home.
At around 8pm went to Edwin's house and he organised a bbq. Reached there and saw, Sandi, Stephanie , Han Keong and Edwin's relatives. It was a bbq session to celebrate Edwin's 21st birthday on 12 August. The food was quite a spread, over a hundred sticks of mutton satay, otaks, chicken wings, hot dogs, fried fritters and tau kwa paus. Subsequently everyone arrived and around 9pm Edwin cut the cake, and we sang birthday song. It was a large black forest cake. While eating, noticed his house was like an antique shop. Saw 4 old handphones ( those brick typed), old camera and cash registers.
While we ate, most of the guys would be sharing their punishments and experiences in the army. After we finished our cakes, went to Edwin's room to chat and watch tv. Then Han Keong was the first to go as he stayed at Woodlands. We watched the charity shield match between Arsenal VS Manutd. Was a rather exciting match with Arsenal pressuring the Manutd defenses. Few hours later, Chong Kai arrived with Yong Xin. Chatted, ate and talk about ghost stories. After that went upstairs to watch tv and chat. At around 2.30 Sandi and I went home. After reaching home and chatted with Mingda over MSN and found out that everyone left.

Last Pool Outing
Yesterday would be my last time playing pool with Tim and Rish as I am going in very soon. Was surprised to see Bok Wee, my secondary school best friend joining us. Tim picked me and drove us to classic. Reached classic, there were no 8 ft tables so we played 9ft. Well today performance was not bad beat almost everybody hahaha. Everyone really enjoyed the game, joking crapping about last time. However Tim seems abit moody and distracted yesterday. I brought my camera to take some photos. We left classic at around 2.40am and Tim wanted to eat supper. So i recommended him the fantastic ,delicious , smooth tau huey from Rochor. I treated them, we ordered some tau hueys, soya bean milk and some baos. After our meal we left home it was around 4am already. I wonder if i could get up to meet Daniel tomorrow to get our army stuffs.

Swimming Day

Thursday met Fusheng and Daniel to swim. Finally my kicking could be synchronised with my movement and my head could pop up to breathe. But my hands seemed to struggle each time. We swam for a short while before went to bathe. Had lunch at Pizza Hut, Tampines Mall. I can't remember what our order was. We had soup of the day, french toast, onion rings, our personal pan pizza and a glass of pepsi. The onion ring was nice but no idea what was inside. Well the personal pan was small, around the size of my palm. The pizza was cut in quarters. I ordered chicken supreme while they ordered Hawaiian. I felt cheated, did not see any chicken meat but saw mushrooms and ham. Maybe it was chicken ham.
After our meal, Dan went to Century Square to get a Guess handbag for her girlfriend. We walked around while waiting for Daniel to have the bag wrapped. Later we went to pavillion to have a game of pool. At around 6pm we left for home.

Botak Beng
Finally decided to get rid of my SAN QIAN FAN NAO SI (hair). Wanted to see how I look when I am botak. Went to the malay barber at Parkway to have my haircut. Pwee can feel the results, damn cooling shiok. Save water and shampoo when bathing. Save time to style hair when going out. After the cut went to had lunch at the basement foodcourt and went to buy some groceries for my mum. I love the feeling of rubbing my hair.

Monday my mother cooked Mee Siam. My friends who had tried the previous time claimed its the best they ever eaten and I truly agree. I invited Kai, as the others are not free. He reached my place at around 3 and helped himself with the servings. He also brought his "Game Collezion", which consisted of over 30 games. I installed a few of them. I am now too busy playing the PS2 Winning Eleven 7 International on the PC version.
